Bev is a communications consultant and health communications researcher whose work focuses on two aspects of strategic communications within the health sector: organizational communications (e.g. developing and implementing communications plans for health organizations and health system initiatives), and communications related to the production and exchange of health and health research information (e.g. between health care providers and patients, among practitioners, between experts and lay audiences, etc.).
Over the past ten years, Bev has broadened the scope of her work with academic studies, research and practice, particularly in the area of risk communication and knowledge exchange related to population and public health (chronic disease as well as emerging infectious disease). Through her work, she has learned the value of creating solid communications plans - based on a full situational analysis - including measurable objectives, tailored strategies, flexible implementation methods that shift to reflect changing circumstances, and both mid-process and final evaluations to track progress and record lessons learned. Bev is a PhD Candidate (Health Communication) at Simon Fraser University, British Columbia.
